Here in America, we have something known as freedom. We have the right to choose whether we carry a gun, eat fatty fast food for dinner, and have sex on film for money. You may not know this, but recently, there has been plenty of talks about mandatory condom use on porn sets. Why?

Well, the industry does have it’s fair share of epidemics. People make bad decisions and sometimes forge their STD tests so they can perform when they’re actually infected… thereby infecting a number of other pornstars. Every time this sort of crap happens, the entire industry shuts down.

Early this year, it was stated that condoms were mandatory in porn. Voters had no say. March 5th, it was supposed to become a law. But lawmakers struggled to figure out how they would enforce this mandate. Things have sort of been on hold about this mandatory condom thing for a while now… until Measure B was introduced on the ballot for November 6th.

Pornstars are fighting back against Measure B. They basically state that it boils down to a civil rights violation. You should have the right to choose whether or not to have sex with condoms, and you shouldn’t need to be forced to do it. Period. We agree.

James Deen, that male pornstar you’ve probably heard about a lot recently, stated: “The idea of restricting our ability to make choices of our own is insulting. It is frankly unconstitutional.”

Not only is it unconstitutional, but it’s bad for the industry. It could cause producers to relocate so they can avoid condoms completely… which is costly, and would affect your ability to get new, quality porn.

Pornstars should have the right to choose. There are already safeguards in place: required testing for STIs every few weeks… and that’s the way it should stay.

But should they be required to wear condoms? I don’t think so. I think there are other ways to ensure their safety, and forcing them to wear condoms is a violation of their liberties.
